Vic Joseph Misses WWE TV For Second Time

Announcer was off 205 Live after missing NXT earlier this week.

WWE's 205 Live lead announcer Vic Joseph was absent from the show during this week's SmackDown tapings in Orlando, FL's Amway Center. He was replaced by Byron Saxton, who called the cruiserweight action alongside Nigel McGuinness.

This is the second show Joseph has missed this week; both he and broadcast partner Wade Barrett missed NXT this past Wednesday, replaced by Tom Phillips and Beth Phoenix respectively. Phoenix, as she has throughout the pandemic, called the action remotely, meaning WWE see this method as a viable option for announcers unable to physically make tapings.

There was no reason given as for why Joseph has forewent his past two scheduled engagements, and nor has any information otherwise became available. Barrett's absence also passed without comment from the company, though he was on hand to Tweet his approval of Kyle O'Reilly setting up an NXT Championship match with Finn Bálor at the forthcoming TakeOver 31.

Joseph, 35, began commentary duties for WWE on Main Event back in May 2017. He became 205 Live's lead announcer just a month later.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
