Vince McMahon Changes Mind On Popular WWE Star
WWE's Executive Chairman has done a U-turn on this WWE star...
Vince McMahon has decided that he is an LA Knight fan after all.
WWE's Executive Chairman - who cast the slick-talking SmackDown star as Maximum Male Models' manager, Max Dupri, in 2022 - has come around on the former Eli Drake, reports PWTorch's Wade Keller.
As well as installing Knight in the Maximum Male Models group (after deciding he was too old to be an in-ring talent at 40), Vince ended up replacing him with his kayfabe sister, Maxxine Dupri. Now, Knight is on Vince's radar thanks to his surge in popularity in arenas and online.
Paul 'Triple H' Levesque reverted the former Dupri to his NXT monicker, LA Knight, shortly after McMahon's forced resignation amidst myriad sexual misconduct allegations in July. Vince, 77, returned to WWE as Executive Chairman in January, resuming creative power following Endeavor's April takeover of the promotion.
Keller writes that Knight is known for being "bad at backstage politics." Although those who know him generally like him, and will speak up on his behalf, Knight "has a long-running reputation for rubbing people the wrong way behind the scenes."
Despite this, Knight's recent surge has caught McMahon and Levesque's attention, putting him in-line for a post-Summer 2023 (5 August) push.
