Vince McMahon Is A Big Fan Of THIS WWE Star
This SmackDown wrestler has caught the WWE Chairman's eye.
Vince McMahon loves Otis more than Otis loves Mandy Rose.
Perhaps not, but it seems the WWE Chairman and CEO is a fan of the Heavy Machinery man, who remains one of the promotion's most well-presented wrestlers in 2020.
Dave Meltzer talks about Vince's fondness for Otis in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter. As part of a larger writeup on the ongoing romance storyline with Rose, Meltzer states that much of the duo's content is likely coming directly from McMahon, who likes the Otis character.
Writer Andrea Listenberger, who departed WWE as part of their Black Wednesday releases, put the promos together and had the reputation of being good at her job, but wasn't the driving force. Meltzer adds that "there were people on the SmackDown creative team that could have gone to bat for her when the cuts came."
As has previously been revealed by Mandy herself, Rose pitched the storyline idea to Vince personally. She struck a home run with it. The ongoing saga is one of the most well-written things on SmackDown and has been for months, with her and Otis amongst the brand's most naturally likeable characters.
