Following Wednesday’s latest round of WWE releases, there’s now an update on how things played out for Lana over the last little while.

As per Fightful Select, the Ravishing Russian and tag team partner Naomi would regularly check in with WWE creative to try and make sure that they were being used as much as possible.

The report adds that there were some majorly different plans in place for Lana earlier in the year, but those plans seemingly changed once Charlotte Flair returned to action. At that point, Lana is said to have had assurances from Vince McMahon himself that the company would continue to use her on WWE television. From there, Lana would find herself tagging with Naomi, with the pair becoming quite the impressive, high energy babyface tandem.

Lana was one of six superstars released by WWE earlier this week, joining Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Ruby Riott, Santana Garrett and Buddy Murphy in being let go due to further “budget cuts” – all while WWE brings in record revenue numbers and huge profit margins.

Already, many are speculating that Lana, aka CJ Perry, will eventually join her husband Miro in AEW at some point down the line, and Perry has already stirred the pot somewhat by praising the Bulgarian Brute's AEW TNT Championship run.
