Vince McMahon is determined to hold this year's WWE SummerSlam in an event with fans, even if it means moving it to a later date, according to a report from Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

WWE had originally planned to hold the event at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts on August 23, but this has seemingly been nixed after Boston Mayor Marty Walsh announced that no large-scale events like festivals or parades would be taking place in the city this summer.

Reports earlier this week suggested that WWE were looking into alternative possibilities for the event, including potentially postponing it until September and also searching for a different venue in the city.

Meltzer noted that the WWE CEO appears set on delaying SummerSlam to ensure that a live crowd can be in attendance but that: "It is not a move decided on and he hasn’t outright committed to it.”

So far only one of the 'Big Four' pay-per-views have been held behind closed doors amidst the global situation, but with the crisis ongoing, it is unlikely that SummerSlam will go ahead with fans, at least on the originally scheduled date.
