What Major WWE Moment Did Rob Van Dam Know "Nothing" About?

"I didn’t know that was going to happen!"

Rob Van Dam wore a beaming smile when he defeated John Cena at WWE's ECW One Night Stand 2006 to become the new WWE Champion. That, undoubtedly, was the highlight of his career, and it helped the pay-per-view become must-see.

One of the most iconic visuals of the night wasn't planned, at least according to Rob.

He told 411's Wrestling Interviews Podcast that he didn't actually know a gaggle of ECW workers and select WWE talent were going to crash the scene and hoist him up onto their shoulders in celebration. Van Dam had told Paul Heyman he'd run into the stands and embrace his now ex-wife, but that was about it.

Heyman kept the mini-party segment secret from RVD all day before the show.

Rob got emotional when everyone came out to celebrate with him. He recalls doubting whether or not WWE would go through with the title change at all, so it was almost surreal for him to receive a literal pat on the back from his peers after winning the big one.

RVD also remembered worrying that he'd get his "heart broken" if plans changed on the night.
