What Was Originally Planned For The Lana/Liv Morgan Love Angle?
Not much according to Dave Meltzer.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has confirmed that WWE never had any plans for the story between Lana and Liv Morgan to develop past the latter's surprise appearance at the former and Bobby Lashley's wedding in December 2019.
In the weeks and months leading up to the now infamous wedding, many fans had been theorising that Liv Morgan could be set to return to WWE programming as Bray Wyatt's Sister Abigail.
Yet, come December 31, 2019, fans were instead treated to Morgan interrupting Lashley and Lana's wedding. Upon crashing the wedding, Morgan then revealed her love for Lana and set the stage for a new angle between herself and the 'Ravishing Russian'.
Meltzer has now confirmed that a WWE source informed him that the company had no intention of following through with a spin-off angle and this is why so little was done with the pair after this initial revelation. Paul Heyman reportedly wrote Morgan into the wedding segment to pop the crowd and get eyes on the returning former Riott Squad member.
It definitely worked, but it's just a shame that the company weren't completely invested in what could have been a seriously interesting programme going forward.
