WhatCulture Readers Want Cesaro As New WWE Champion

A WhatCulture poll has identified Cesaro as the most popular fan choice to be the new WWE champion. The poll was conducted on Tuesday, the day after Daniel Bryan was stripped of the belt due to his inability to compete after neck surgery. WWE has announced that the vacant title will be awarded to the winner of June 29th's Money In The Bank, with Randy Orton, Cesaro, Sheamus, Bray Wyatt, Alberto Del Rio already entered. Another place is up for grabs, with John Cena expected to fill it, or the company could in theory even feature more than six men in the match. Our poll options can be seen in the picture below, the pick of WWE's upper mid card and main event scene. At press time 1,738 of you had voted. The results illustrated that Cesaro is a favourite amongst fans for becoming WWE Champion. Despite being a heel, he has clearly impressed in the ring, with 416 votes giving him the leading 24% of the vote. Not too far behind is Seth Rollins, again he is a heel, but his burgeoning profile is obviously making fans want to see more of him. Rollins polls 16% of the vote with 284 votes. A close third is John Cena with 14% of the vote, proving WWE's most reliable act is still firmly backed by his fanbase.
Outside of the top three we have Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns doing well with 13% and 12% respectively. The rest of the vote is divided between the 5 and 8 per cent range for Triple H, Randy Orton and Kane. Barely registering amongst fan interest is Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio, indicative of their worrying career trend in failing to garner relevance. The conclusions we can make from the vote is that WWE fans are all for younger skilled ring workers. Cena has his fanbase but the top 5 is closely fought between newer talent. Cesaro is the prime man amongst this new generation, way out in front with his leadership of the vote. Will WWE actually anoint him as the new leading man this June 29th? John Cena seems a more reliable choice, a man who can steady the ship and make for an engaging 'Cena vs Bryan 2' match for the 'Yes' leader returning. What do you think?
