Which Former WWE Star Was Supposed To Be At The Benoit House On Same Night As Tragedy?

Back in 2014, Bob Holly appeared on Jim Ross' old 'Ross Report' podcast and spoke about almost being in Chris Benoit's house on the night Nancy Benoit was murdered by the former WWE wrestler.

Holly began the recount by telling J.R. 'I don’t know if you know this or not. I was supposed to be at Chris’ house [on the night] that he killed Nancy. I was supposed to be at his house that day.'

On the sidelines due to a nasty staph infection at the time, Holly was in Atlanta for some business and this led to Benoit requesting over the phone that he come see him at his home. Holly insisted that Benoit should spend his time off alone with his family and that he 'didn't need (him) there'.

However, Benoit continued to nudge Holly towards coming over for 'dinner with us or whatever'.

Benoit phoned Holly the next day on his way home from a doctor's appointment and 'kind of got on (Holly) for not calling him and coming over'. Later that afternoon Benoit would kill his wife Nancy and that's why the phone call really hit Holly hard.

He said in the podcast, 'it’s one of those things where, okay, if I would’ve shown up, would the outcome be completely different? Would they still be alive today?'

Holly later confirmed that the two rode together a lot and were 'pretty close' and that Benoit didn't sound agitated at all during their exchange over the phone:

'After he said how he felt about me ’cause I wasn’t coming up there to hang out with him or whatever, it was just small talk. You know, ‘How’s TV? How’s this, how’s that? How’s everything going with…” you know? I said, ‘How are you and Nancy doing?’ ’cause I knew him and Nancy were having trouble because we talked and he said, his exact words were: ‘Aww, she’s acting like Hitler again.’ And I didn’t know what to say to that obviously because I didn’t want to get in their business or anything and so I just kinda laughed it off followed by a little small talk here and there and then that was it.'

Due to the timing of their conversation, Holly may have been one of the last people that Benoit spoke to before the horrific events took place later that day.

Also, you have to imagine that the situation could have been very different had Holly agreed to meet Benoit as he'd requested.
