Which WWE Legend Says He "Never Needed" Any Title Wins?

"Why would I wanna' carry a ten-pound belt around?"

Current AEW manager Jake 'The Snake' Roberts never won one title during any of his runs in WWE.

Check his championship haul and you'll see belts in World Class, Mid-South, Stampede, Smoky Mountain, Georgia Championship Wrestling and various other NWA territories, but none in the WWF/WWE. That fact has always bugged some traditionalists; Roberts is routinely mentioned as one of the best workers to never get that WWE Title rub.

According to the man himself, he "never needed one".

Roberts told Chris Van Vliet during the Independent Wrestling Expo that he didn't need titles to get over in the promotion. What's more, Jake wasn't really that sweet on the thought of carting around more weight on the road. He already had a "hundred-pound snake" and "a trunk I gotta' carry it in".

Carrying around another heavy item wasn't on Jake's agenda.

He takes pride in the fact he got over without holding any top titles in WWE. That's a good point - Roberts didn't win the WWF, Intercontinental or Tag-Team belts, but still went on to become a company Hall of Famer and one of the most memorable characters of his generation.
