Which WWE Wrestler Was Approached About Boxing Mike Tyson?
WWE Hall-of-Famer Iron Mike has a long history with professional wrestling.
Former WWE Champion and current United States Champion Bobby Lashley said he has been approached about potentially boxing former heavyweight champion -- and WWE Hall-of-Famer -- Mike Tyson.
Fightful Select interviewed Lashley ahead of this weekend's SummerSlam when the All Mighty revealed that he was approached "by a bare-knuckle boxing company rep" about possibly mixing it up with Iron Mike. Lashley said the conversation was a feeling-out process, and that he personally would love to compete against the legendary boxer. The theoretical match could potentially take place at Madison Square Garden.
Tyson of course is strongly linked to WWE, as he served as the special guest enforcer at WrestleMania 14 in the WWF Championship match between Shawn Michaels and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, where he famously knocked HBK out after he lost the title. Iron Mike was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012. He also has appeared for AEW several times, including the Double or Nothing 2020 PPV, where he presented Cody Rhodes with the inaugural TNT Championship.
The former undisputed boxing champ of the world amassed a 50-6 professional record in the ring. To his credit, Lashley is no slouch in combat sports, putting together a 15-2 record in MMA fights for various promotions from 2008-16.
Fightful has not confirmed this possible match with any bare-knuckle promotion.
