Who Is Shocked That WWE Didn't Use Halloween Havoc Before Now?

'They own the intellectual property - why wouldn't they?'

Eric Bischoff
WWE

Former WCW chief Eric Bischoff doesn't understand why WWE were hesitant to use the Halloween Havoc branding for a pay-per-view or themed broadcast before now.

He told WrestleZone that it's one of the better event titles the NWA/WCW ever came up with, and it would've made sense for Vince McMahon to put his own spin on it when WCW went out of business in 2001; Bruce Prichard has previously explained that McMahon doesn't quite understand the global appeal Halloween has, which is just...fascinating.

Think about that for a second, then start to shake your head upon realising that The Great American Bash (a concept WWE has used) is even less global.

Back to Bisch.

The short-lived WWE Executive Director said "taking advantage of something that most people recognise as a cause of celebration" makes perfect business sense. He also added that Havoc was his favourite WCW pay-per-view by far and actually surpassed Starrcade as his annual focal point when running the company in the 1990s.

WWE will finally dust the classic off on 28 October. This will be the first Halloween Havoc since WCW's final one in October 2000.
