Mick Foley reached for his phone and texted Triple H minutes after seeing Drew McIntyre's first post-WWE appearance on the indy scene.

The legend told 'Busted Open Radio' that Drew sent him a DM with footage of the Scot's return to old stomping ground ICW in 2014 and asked for Mick's thoughts. McIntyre even apologised for the coarse language, noting that the show was 18+.

Foley was so impressed that he decided to fire off a quick text to Trips that said, 'Hunter, I know he just left here, but you need to keep an eye on Drew McIntyre. He’s almost like an entirely different human being'.

That's a stunning endorsement from someone so respected.

McIntyre, using his real surname Galloway, went on to win ICW's top belt and defended it across the world. That turned the championship into a bonafide World Heavyweight Title. Drew also went on to storm it in EVOLVE, Impact, WCPW/Defiant and elsewhere before eventually returning to WWE (via NXT) in 2017.

The Mickster loved the passion and energy McIntyre had in ICW. He could see that the future Royal Rumble winner had way more to give.
