Why Sasha Banks Vs. Bayley Isn't Happening At WrestleMania 36
One day, these two are going to have a singles feud...
Bayley will wrestle Sasha Banks at WrestleMania 36, but not in the way many would have hoped or expected.
This week's SmackDown saw former General Manager Paige announce that Bayley would defend her Women's Title against Banks, Lacey Evans, Dana Brooke, Tamina, and Naomi in a Six-Pack Elimination match. We might get a one-on-one sequence between 'The Boss' and 'The Role Model' as part of this, though it isn't the full-on singles match many have been hoping for since the duo graduated from NXT.
The reason WWE isn't doing this clash at 'Mania is simple: they didn't feel like they had enough time to build a memorable feud between the duo.
Dave Meltzer spoke about this on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, stating that Banks vs. Bayley was actually planned at one point, but WWE ultimately decided against it for the reason above.
The two allies looked aghast at the prospect of sharing a ring after Paige broke the news on Friday. Could WWE use 'The Showcase of the Immortals' to build to that long-awaited singles feud? Perhaps, though barely a month passes without a similar report emerging, so let's just see what happens.
