Why WWE Divas Divsion Needs Lita Return

It's general consensus that the WWE Diva's division is not at it's strongest and hasn't been for a while - that's phrasing it nicely. The signing of Karma looked to add something to the division and I'm sure that the matches between her and Beth Phoenix would have actually been watchable however she went off to have a kid. Unfortunate timing. So what does the Diva's division need to appeal to today's mainstream audience?

The best Divas storyline in recent memory has to be the Mickie James stalker angle whereby her gimmick was she followed Trish Stratus around acting like a mad fan and the obsession became more and more hostile as weeks went on and Mickie ended up winning the title after turning on her once beloved Trish.

At the time of this storyline, the Divas division featured Mickie and Trish, obviously, Torie Wilson, Jillian, Victoria and of course, probably the most reputable Diva of all time... Lita. It's a matter of opinion but wrestling-wise, Lita was one of the best because of her no-holds barred approach to professional wrestling. Hell, she even agreed to have a live sex celebration with Edge (kayfabe) which for the time (2006) was pretty raunchy.

However, all of the Diva's mentioned above were reputable and relatable and the mainstream audience of WWE would watch the matches and the storylines because the Diva's weren't clueless glamour models. Fair enough we have Beth Phoenix and Natalya who are actually good, technical wrestlers however the rest of the women's roster is just eye candy.

We need strength in depth. They tried to book Kelly Kelly as a dominant Diva. No one took notice. They're trying the same with Eve now. Still nothing. There's only Natalya and Beth who can actually be given the title and look worthy of wearing it. If there was ever a chance that Lita could one day return to the WWE then Vince should bite her hand off.

I write this article after a reading a tweet by Lita (Amy Dumas) whereby she was training with Eve. Does it mean anything? Probably not but a man can dream.
