It looks like Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso will be WWE's headline match come SummerSlam 2023 on 5 August in Detroit's Ford Field.

The company officially announced that clash on Friday's episode of SmackDown, and revealed that it'll be for both the Undisputed WWE Universal Title and Roman's long-held 'Tribal Chief' status. In fact, Jey challenged Reigns to "Tribal Combat" on the upcoming PLE.

Sounds tasty.

During his promo, Uso also clued fans in on the kind of action they can expect to see early next month. He said he could smash Roman with steel chairs or put him through tables without facing consequences from the referee, so it looks like "Tribal Combat" will be a fresh spin on the no disqualification or 'Extreme Rules' formula.

A big time stipulation was necessary to up the ante, but it's interesting that WWE's writers believe they need Roman's 'Tribal Chief' business to be up for grabs as well as the title. That, if nothing else, does add some more meat to the bone, and there's a solid chance Reigns vs. Jey gets to go on last at SummerSlam.
