WWE: 10 Greatest Hell in a Cell Matches
To commemorate last week's PPV, we look at the 10 greatest Hell in a Cell matches in WWE history.
Perhaps the best WWE creation of the past two decades, the Hell in a Cell match debuted in 1997. Weighing over two tons and standing 16ft high (the new revised version is 20ft high and weighs 5 tons), the structure dwarfs nearly everything else around it. As the saying goes, men who enter it do not return the same. Careers are altered, lives changed, appearances disfigured. Even if it doesn't live up to this clichéd hyperbole anymore, there is a still a terror the unforgiving steel brings to superstars like nothing else can. The formation of the annual Hell In A Cell PPV has unfortunately diminished the entire purpose behind the gimmick, and the PG restrictions have proved detrimental to its barbarity. Nevertheless, the memories of the epic encounters from years gone by shall always remain embedded into our brains. This past Sunday's match between Ryback and CM Punk was the 26th inside the cell (although one of these bizarrely was a Raw dark match for the fans in attendance only). You won't be shocked to learn that neither of these will be featuring on the list. In fact, none of the matches from the Hell In A Cell PPV will be making an appearance, so you can already narrow down the possibilities to 17. But which of those made the top ten cut?
