What is it: Witness the sole reason that John Cena has been on top of WWE for the past 10 years and shows no sign of going away...ever. You see, back in 2002, John Cena was just another midcarder who no one cared about and appeared to be heading to developmental territory OVW or the unemployment line. But then the Smackdown roster had a Halloween party and John Cena showed up dressed like Vanilla Ice. Not only that but he debuted a goofy rapping character who was actually entertaining. Given a sidekick of Bull "Bling Bling" Buchanan (or B-Squared), Cena set about winning opening matches and generally acting like an annoying wannabe rapper. It wasn't until Cena tweaked the gimmick to a more Eminem-like edgy rapper that his career took off. Believe it or not, it was this hard-edged rapper gimmick that actually turned Cena into, believe it or not, one of the internet's favorite wrestlers. My, how things have changed.
Possible Explanation: John Cena thought this would actually be funny. You see, Vanilla Ice references are always appropriate and Cena was trying to be humorous. Unfortunately for John, like always, his jokes are lame and he's incredibly unlikeable. You know, it's really hard to relate to a guy like Cena who was born with perfect genetics and is dating one of the hottest women on the planet. Seriously, screw that guy.
