2. Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer's Full Account And Friendship With Bret

Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer was an underground bible for wrestlers and smart fans in the 90s. The 'dirt sheet' was passed along all wrestling locker rooms, and often had the inside track on wrestling way before the internet came along. Meltzer is in fact credited and thanked in Hart's auto biography. The Two men would speak, and it was immediately after the screwjob that Meltzer came out with a large report of the events which led up to the event and details of the actual event itself. It made for a great read, and almost came across as a story. Perhaps this was all part of the propaganda and Meltzer, Hart and McMahon had collaborated on this to 'work' the industry. Maybe it went back even further, the story of Hart and Michaels backstage fights all planted in the newspaper. Who knows, maybe a contract was even put in place to publish the story and keep it secret. There is certainly evidence to suggest some sort of working relationship went on, Meltzer was far more slanted to WWF than WCW in his wrestling coverage. However, the biggest piece of propaganda that put over the 'screwjob' story was something else all together....
