More and more, tag matches are becoming a highlight of WWE TV once again. Maligned for years as meaningless and boring, suddenly we are seeing legitimate teams have athletic contests each week on Raw and Smackdown. Are we closer to getting back to the days of incredible tag-teams like the Road Warriors, Edge & Christian, Dudleys, and Four Horsemen? The Shield and the Wyatt Family have rejuvenated a dying beast, and are putting on clinics in character development and match quality. Previously irrelevant but talented performers in Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro have been given a platform to be on TV more and get over organically with the crowds. Finally the WWE management seem to have moved away from pairing two random people together and throwing them into the tag division to make up the numbers (Rybaxel aside!). Even Brodus Clay and Tensai have been somewhat entertaining and have been a fairly decent platform to steadily introduce numerous characters - Naomi and Cameron and Xavier Woods - through their gimmick alone. The audience is invested. 'Oohs' and 'aahs' can be heard when the teams' entrance themes hit. People are popping for Cody Rhodes, when in the past, despite his incredible talent, he got crickets.
