Review: After turning face at WrestleMania III, Brutus Beefcake was christened "The Barber," and the majority of his feuds at the time involved him wanting to cut his opponent's hair more than a desire to beat them. This seemed to be the case here, even with the Intercontinental Championship on the line. This match pitted Beefcake's three moves vs Honky's three: hip lock, atomic drop, and sleeperhold vs. fist drop, manager interference, and the Shake, Rattle, and Roll neckbreaker. Eventually it appeared the sleeper would be the winning move, with Honky- and his hair, and title- slipping away, when Jimmy Hart jumped onto the apron, lured the referee over, and hit him in the head with the megaphone. Despite the ref being out-cold- and no bell being rung- Beefcake played the stupid-but-excited babyface, letting the unconscious Honky fall to the mat, and celebrating like he actually won something. Of course, he didn't, and- as a consolation prize- cut Hart's hair to the semi-delight of the crowd. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKy7qiyHC4I
How it could have been better: I don't know; these two were always very limited in the ring. Maybe if Beefcake actually got to cut Honky's hair... but that would have been a death-blow for his Elvis-gimmick. How about a broken guitar over someone's head? Anyone's head?
