WWE: 13 Times Vince McMahon Went Way Too Far

2. Continuing Over The Edge After The Owen Hart Accident

In one of the most tragic occurrences to ever happen inside a wrestling ring, during the 1999 pay-per-view Over The Edge, when Owen Hart, in his Blue Blazer persona, fell 78 feet before landing on the top rope and flipping into the ring. It was thought that Owen had accidentally activated his quick release mechanism. He later died from his injuries in the Truman Medical Centre in Kansas City. How can you possibly justify continuing with the show after such a tragic occurrence? It's not like Vince and company didn't know that Owen had passed in hospital, as Jim Ross delivered the heartbreaking news on commentary during the pay-per-view itself. Ultimately, it's just a sport, and a pre-determined one at that, and some things are just a lot more important. The show should never have been allowed to go on, in respect to the memory of Owen Hart, a truly great wrestler and, from what people have to say of Owen, a genuinely nice guy.
