1. Payback (2013)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbbt7oplJxU If you hadnt noticed the trend, my choice for underrated Pay Per View of 2011, 2012 and 2013 all took place in Chicago. Thats a testament to the quality of the Chicago crowd, who have quickly risen to the top of the list of best WWE crowds. This Pay Per View actually gets my vote for best of 2013, even above Summerslam, which had two matches that you could rate **** or higher. This show was more balanced, and solid from top to bottom. The opening Intercontinental Title triple threat match had the crowd on its feet chanting This is awesome. The Womens Title match was one of the best womens matches of the year. The World Heavyweight Championship match told a great story of Alberto Del Rio working on Dolph Zigglers head after the concussion, and established a fantastic double turn that unfortunately wasnt capitalized on by having Ziggler avenge this loss and retake the World Title. The tag title match between the Shield and Daniel Bryan/Randy Orton was solid and sowed the seeds for Orton and Bryans WWE Title feud later in the year. And the WWE Title match, while unfit for a main event considering the quality of what preceded it, was helped by the Three Stages of Hell Gimmick. But the real highlight of the evening was CM Punk making his return after being out since Wrestlemania against Chris Jericho. There wasnt much backstory here, and there didnt really need to be. Just take two of the top workers, put them out there in front of a rabid crowd, and let them do their thing for more than 20 minutes. It was a low-end Match of the Year candidate, and a match Id gladly watch again and again. Let me know on
