There is nothing more irritating in professional wrestling than a heel Miz. Overbearing and obnoxious, the former WWE champion has a way of infuriating audiences by repeatedly reminding them of how awesome he is. Moreover, he came across as completely scripted and had a way of eliciting a chorus of boos simply by flashing a grin at the camera. That he was given the world, and the top heel spot in the company despite many (including CM Punk) believing he did not deserve it only added to his heat. Whether it was as a contestant in the 2004 edition of Tough Enough, the host of SmackDown in 2006, a tag team partner of John Morrison in ECW or as a singles competitor with the good looks and media relations skills that WWE covets, he was able to get over as a hated member of the roster at every level. As he has stated many times during magazine and radio interviews and DVD releases, Miz became a target in the locker room by Superstars who could not stand him when he first arrived in the company. John Bradshaw Layfield was adamant on commentary about his disdain for the Cleveland native. Even as a babyface, Miz remained one of the biggest heat magnets in the company. There is just something so dislikable about him that it is difficult to fully support him. The fact that he is essentially the same character does not help his cause. Neither does the fact that he is married to the insanely beautiful Maryse Ouellet.
