Perhaps it was done by design, or maybe it was purely a coincidence, but The Nexus couldn't have debuted as a unit in WWE at a better time than they did, arriving on one of the worst episodes of Raw in recent memory. Thus, their ambush on John Cena and their total destruction of the ringside area shook up the entire landscape of WWE and set the stage for an unpredictable summer season.

Regardless of who Cena enlisted to join him in his crusade against Nexus, nothing and no one could put an end to their ruthlessness. They found new ways to leave a lasting impression every week, leaving viewers to question if there was anyone capable of matching them in numbers.

Cena ultimately found six men brave enough to go up against the brash newcomers at SummerSlam, and the angle had the potential to be something special if it was booked correctly. Daniel Bryan's comeback to the company was a cool surprise, but Cena beating Nexus all on his own without any twists or turns taking place was extremely underwhelming to say the least.

Wade Barrett, the leader of Nexus, was never the same past that point, but it was a neat way of bringing him up to the main roster with a bang, nevertheless.
