WWE: 6 Examples Of The Legacy Left By WWE's ECW
Whatever you may think of the controversial reboot of Extreme Championship Wrestling by the WWE, it was a bold idea to say the very least. Thanks to the enormous success of the One Night Stand PPV and a fiercely loyal and dedicated fanbase, the rebirth of this brand divided fans and caused quite a stir, much like the original ECW did back in the day. However, many loyalists were outraged at what they saw was a travesty of justice, an insult to the original concept and a watering down of a once beloved wrestling federation that inspired the Attitude Era. Eventually dubbing the new breed of extreme WWECW, a name that eventually stuck with the masses and came to reflect how little this new brand actually had in common with its blood soaked predecessor. However, regardless of whether you supported the rebirth of ECW or were a devout extremist who took this as a personal insult to everything that the original company stood for, there is no doubt that WWECW as it is now known as, left a legacy that will be felt for years to come. One that often gets overlooked by even the most hardcore of fans. Which is why the decision was made to list those accomplishments that will resonate through history and that have affected both the McMahon conglomerate and sports entertainment in general. For if the measure of success is truly what you leave behind, then WWECW quite possibly could be just as significant as the original tribe of extreme.
