With the news that not one, but two championships will be defended on this Friday’s Christmas Day edition of WWE SmackDown, now comes word that a third title match has been added to this week’s blue brand action.

As announced during last night’s Raw, Women’s Tag Team Champions Asuka & Charlotte Flair will be defending their recently won gold against a team that’s yet to be revealed.

By the company’s own rules, the fact that this title defence is taking place on SmackDown should rule out tandems like Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax, Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke, and Peyton Royce & Lacey Evans from being in action on Friday. But then again, this is WWE, and rules can be bent and broken to fit the will of Vince McMahon and his creative team.

Purely speculating, one would have to think that the Riott Squad or possibly even Natalya & Billie Kay seem like the most logical options to step up to face Asuka and Flair.

Of course, those other announced title matches are Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens in a Steel Cage match, while Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn will defend his title against Big E. This week’s SmackDown will be taped later today.
