WWE Almost Turned This Ex-Star Into A Comedy Gimmick
An improvised WWE joke to "pop" Triple H and Vince McMahon almost blew up.
WWE came very close to turning Nia Jax into a comedic character following her outlandish, "MY HOLE!" outburst on the 8 February 2021 edition of Raw.
Nia told 'Ring The Belle' that she only yelled that to "pop" both Triple H and Vince McMahon behind the scenes. Both were in on the joke, because Jax had laughed about it in-ring (steady!) with Hunter earlier in the day during warm-ups/rehearsals.
WWE's product had an altogether looser vibe to it during the closed-door pandemic era, so Nia felt comfortable with the gag. She didn't, however, expect company cameras to catch it so cleanly - Jax thought for sure mics would also miss most of what she said, but she shouted so loudly that the entire world started talking about her... hole.
Later, McMahon wanted to produce a line of "MY HOLE!" t-shirts and capitalise on the social media buzz. Nia isn't sure why plans changed, or why WWE stopped running with the thought of turning her into a comedic character.
She guessed that someone backstage probably thought it'd be a bad idea to turn her "into a joke".
