In this current year of 1999, Mark Henry and Big Show wrestled during the first match on Raw, and it wasnt very good. Wait, its 2015? Well thats just awful! That opening match didnt have anything to do with the 2.51 rating did it? Or maybe it was the 20 minute gift giving segment. At least Smackdown delivered a hotly anticipated follow-up to open their show...which featured The Authority bragging about the gifts they received. Did the entire writing staff just take their summer vacation? WWE also gave us a gift with Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns on SmackDown, with not a single day of hype. Why bother protecting a potential future WrestleMania main event when we can just do it RIGHT NOW? Maybe next week we can get Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker on Superstars, just because. Elsewhere, The Beast in the East special was perhaps the best WWE event in months. No evil authority figures, no JBL, only two hours long, and a focus on engaging wrestling with fresh match-ups. Did Vince McMahon approve this idea? Or did half the company decide to sneak out of the country to put on a show? Over in TNA, Ethan Carter captured heavyweight gold by defeating Kurt Angle. From Derrick Bateman to the unemployment line, to the top of his current company. No jokes here, good for him! But enough celebrating, weve got some work to do.
