You won't see this commentator wrestle full-time again, but he MIGHT work a WWE match or two.

WWE SmackDown announcer Wade Barrett has "an itch" to wrestle a match or two again.

The former Nexus leader, who was moved up from NXT to SmackDown in October, told Ryan Satin's 'Out Of Character' show that he has "never ruled out" returning to the ring. Barrett's last wrestling match came on the 4 April 2016 episode of Raw - there, he teamed with League Of Nations pal Sheamus in a losing effort to New Day.

Ex-'Bad News' hasn't worked in-ring since then, but that could change in the near future. Wade admitted during the interview that hearing fans shout, "BOOM!" at him when he's making his entrance for comms does make him wonder if there's life in the old dog yet.

Then, he sits down to commentate bouts by the likes of GUNTHER, Sheamus or Drew McIntyre and everything changes again. Barrett knows WWE would expect him to work a similarly-rugged/physical style, and he's just not certain his body could hold up to that on a full-time schedule in 2022/2023.

However, he is interested in exploring the possibilities of a match or two. Wouldn't that be something?
