While many were left disappointed when the Fight Pit battle between Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher was pulled from last week's New Year's Evil special, it's now been announced that this battle 'match' will be taking place on next week's episode of NXT.

Last week's NXT saw the Fight Pit axed due to a storyline injury to Thatcher. In reality, it appears that the match was merely a victim of timing and possibly the logistics of constructing the Fight Pit setup.

Not only did this week's NXT confirm Fight Pit II for next week, audiences also got a sitdown segment between Ciampa and Thatcher - all with Wade Barrett serving as the moderator of this confrontation.

NXT TakeOver: WarGames saw the Psycho Killer get a win over Thatcher, although the Fight Pit match type is being hyped up as a speciality of Thatcher's, as highlighted by him defeating Matt Riddle last year in the first ever Fight Pit contest.

With Fight Pit II joining the continuation of the 2021 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic on next week's NXT, it looks as if the next black and gold offering is shaping up rather nicely.
