WWE Announces Significant Absence For Matt Riddle Following Raw Attack
Matt Riddle is set for some time on the shelf following WWE's recent Raw angle.
WWE has announced that Matt Riddle will be out for around six weeks.
The babyface was viciously attacked by Solo Sikoa and The Bloodline on Monday's episode of Raw, then got stretchered out of the arena by medics as the announcers went all hush-hush. On SmackDown, Michael Cole revealed that Riddle suffered "significant trauma to his trachea, a loss of voice and had difficulty breathing".
This kayfabe injury will mean Matt is benched for the remainder of 2022, but he should be back for January's Royal Rumble. That event takes place on 28 January, which gives Riddle enough time to recover from...whatever's going on and take a berth in the 30-man match.
All going well, he'd return on the 16 January edition of Raw (or perhaps even before).
There are still question marks hanging over WWE's plans for Riddle following the angle. Fans and critics alike are still waiting on news about why he was written off TV in the first place. Was Matt scheduled for some time off? Or, is he struggling with a niggling injury that needs attention imminently?
Time will tell on that.
