WWE Backlash 2016 Poster Revealed & Updated Card

The first brand-specific PPV is beginning to take shape.

WWE has released the official poster for the upcoming SmackDown Live branded Backlash pay-per-view, with current WWE World Champion Dean Ambrose the featured superstar.

Backlash will take place in Richmond, Virginia on September 11th.

The card for the show is beginning to take shape also, with three matches confirmed for the show last night on SmackDown. The main event will see AJ Styles get his fourth crack at the WWE World Championship this year, as 'The Phenomenal One' will challenge Ambrose for the strap. This is a different Styles from the one that faced Roman Reigns earlier in the year, and Ambrose could be in for a long night in Richmond.

Elsewhere, two brand new championships will be decided at Backlash. The first ever SmackDown Women's Champion will be crowned in a Six-Pack Challenge, as Becky Lynch, Carmella, Alexa Bliss, Naomi, Natalya and Nikki Bella will face-off for the honour. Eva Marie will not have completed her suspension by this time, so those dreaming of an All Red Everything blue champion will have to wait a little longer.

Finally, the first-ever SmackDown Tag Team Champions will also be crowned with the finals of the tournament taking place. The Usos and American Alpha advanced to the first semi-final last night, with The Vaudevillains, Hype Bros., Heath Slater & Rhyno, and one mystery team lined up in the second half of the bracket.
