WWE Backstage will return for the first time since June this week, with a special episode set to go down on FS1 immediately after Friday's episode of SmackDown.

The blue brand had been shifted to FS1 as it clashed with a World Series game on FOX, so Backstage will run straight off SmackDown itself, with the hour-long broadcast preceding an SD replay at 11pm.

Backstage was moved off of its permanent weekly schedule four months ago. It was stated at the time that FOX would look to air special episodes whenever they deemed it appropriate to, though they had decided against doing so up to this point. Now, Backstage is finally set to return.

PWInsider have reported that WWE originally planned on airing an episode of Talking Smack immediately after SmackDown, but decided to go with Backstage instead. There is currently no word on who will be hosting the comeback episode, though the previous anchor Renee Young has claimed she still works for FOX despite leaving WWE earlier this year, opening her up for an appearance. The likes of Paige, Booker T, Christian, and CM Punk have joined her in the studio in the past.
