WWE Battleground: 10 Facts You Didn't Know

Having only been around since 2013, Battleground is one of the youngest dates on the WWE pay-per-view calendar.

Don’t worry, that doesn’t count as your first piece of trivia; you can have that one for free. But with Battleground at such an early stage of its infancy, that means the show doesn’t quite have the history of its more illustrious PPV peers.

Here, there aren’t any 21-0 streaks to be conquered, no 2,803-day title reigns to be touted about. With Battleground, we have to dig a little deeper to find our pieces of PPV trivia.

And that digging has yielded a number of findings; we’ve got a whole host of winless runs to report, a championship stat that will favour Dean Ambrose, as well as a couple of unwanted awards picked up in 2013 and ‘14. After literally minutes and minutes of scavenging, this article brings you 10 pieces of trivia from Battleground’s history.

As far as unlikely headlines go, this one’s up there with the best of them. We may not be able to say it too often, but when it comes to WWE Battleground, at least, Roman Reigns has never won a match.

Currently in the Big Doghouse, Reigns’ is nonetheless challenging for the WWE Championship at the 2016 event. But if he wants to leave Washington as a four-time champion, he’s going to have to turn around a record of three successive Battleground failures.

The first defeat arrived in 2013, when he and Seth Rollins lost the Tag Team titles to Cody Rhodes and Goldust. The following year, he came up short in a Fatal Four Way against John Cena, Kane and Randy Orton, this time with the WWE Championship up for grabs. And the misery continued at last year’s show when he fell to Bray Wyatt after a helping hand from Luke Harper.

Surely Reigns can’t go four years in a row without tasting victory at Battleground?
