WWE Books MAJOR SmackDown Title Switch Pre-SummerSlam 2024!

Triple H decided to pull the trigger on this WWE title change before SummerSlam.

Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga beat DIY duo Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa to become the brand new WWE Tag-Team Champions on this week's episode of SmackDown. The broadcast went off the air with Bloodline 2.0 boss Solo Sikoa holding the belts.

WWE's Bloodline civil war is next - pending the return of one Roman Reigns.

There was a sense of inevitability about the title switch once the match was announced. DIY only held the titles for a month after beating Austin Theory and Grayson Waller on the 5 July edition in Toronto, but Gargano and Ciampa always had the air of a transitional choice. That'd ring true come close of business on Friday night.

Fatu and Tonga have serious potential to do more with the straps. However, it's clear that WWE has bigger plans afoot for Jacob than working in the doubles division. He could become a major singles player in the company soon. His success might hinge on showdowns with the returning Reigns though.

This sucks for DIY, but it's hard to argue against Triple H's booking pre-SummerSlam.
