WWE Bringing Historic Pay-Per-View Brands Back This May

With these two WWE additions, May looks like a STACKED month of wrestling.

WWE will host not one, but two premium live events in May, with historic brands Backlash and King and Queen of the Ring both set to take place during the same month.

This is according to Wrestlenomics' Brandon Thurston, who reports that Backlash is currently scheduled for Saturday 6 May, with King and Queen of the Ring set to go down on Saturday 27 May.

King and Queen of the Ring falls on a particularly interesting date. It is set to take place over Memorial Day weekend in the United States, which is typically when AEW holds its signature Double or Nothing event. If that tradition remains - and AEW does as it has done the past couple of years by keeping DoN on the Sunday evening - wrestling fans could be treated to two consecutive nights of major American wrestling shows.

WWE is also set to hold its next Saudi Arabian PLE in May. Whether this will be Backlash (which has lost its 'WrestleMania' prefix) or King and Queen of the Ring remains to be seen.

This is the first time WWE has booked a regular Backlash PLE since 2020. King of the Ring, meanwhile, has not been a dedicated event since 2015.
