John Cena made WWE a ton of cash during his last match vs. Gunther at Saturday Night's Main Event on 13 December 2025. Get this: Post Wrestling is reporting that the live gate for that show shattered prior company records to become the biggest in promotional history. In total, SNME made a whopping $6,553,883 at the box office.

That's the highest ticket gate ever.

Previously, WWE flagship show Raw's debut on Netflix on 6 January 2025 had the biggest figure. That drew $4,898,365 to the Intuit Dome in LA, but SNME in Washington smashed that number by approx $1.5m. That's an insane amount of cash for one wrestling event, especially when taking into consideration that Cena's retirement bash played before a crowd of 17,121.

On average, those fans in attendance paid $383 for the privilege of watching John bow out vs. Gunther. On the night, Cena smiled before passing out whilst locked in a submission. That brought the curtain down on his iconic in-ring career, and he hasn't been seen on WWE programming since.

Post Wrestling also reports that ticket prices were sky high across the board for all of Cena's retirement dates last year. They've got solid data on 20 of the 38 dates he worked, but it's obviously tough to thrash out just how much can be exclusively attributed to JC.

However, shows he worked on raked in a staggering $80m+ in ticket sales. What's more, that data doesn't include top PLEs like Royal Rumble or SummerSlam, so the actual figure is way higher.

'Super Cena' was a super box office smash hit for WWE.
