WWE discussed the idea of a four-way match pitting Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Bayley, and Sasha Banks against each other at WrestleMania 38 before switching gears, reports GiveMeSport's Louis Dangoor.

Though the promotion was considering having its Four Horsewomen wrestle each other in Arlington, Texas as far back as November and early December, it switched gears for several reasons, once of which being Ronda Rousey becoming available.

WWE learned in December that Rousey would be bookable for 'Mania. That's when the pitching process for her comeback began. When it was decided that if Ronda was coming back, she should be in a top bout on 2/3 April, the Horsewomen four-way could no longer happen.

The top two women's matches for WrestleMania now appear to be locked in, with Flair, the SmackDown Women's Champion, defending against Rousey, and Lynch putting her Raw belt on the line against Bianca Belair. Dangoor notes that some within WWE pushed for a conclusion not the Lynch/Belair storyline at WrestleMania, which appears to be the plan.

To date, the excellent NXT Women's Title four-way at TakeOver: Rival in February 2015 remains the only time Bayley, Banks, Flair, and Lynch have contested such a bout in WWE.
