The hype surrounding WWE's Wales-set Clash at the Castle event couldn't be underestimated - as both the company's first major UK stadium show since SummerSlam 1992 and their first outright UK PPV since Insurrection 2003, fans were understandably expecting an event for the ages.

And let's get the bad news out of the way first - Clash at the Castle wasn't really that at all. Much of the card had an oddly low-hype feel to it, yet this was considerably compensated for by the generally high standard of wrestling on offer.

No, there weren't many unforgettable barnburners on the show, but there was a rock solid consistency across the board, with many matches getting close to greatness even if falling a hair short.

There's no denying the passion of the UK crowds, though, and Clash's great success lies in making it clear to WWE that it's absolutely a destination "worthy" of hosting a flagship WWE event like SummerSlam or, better yet, WrestleMania.

While it's a bit of a shame that more effort wasn't put into making Clash feel like a huge show on paper, the in-ring action maintained a firm standard of quality...

7. Madcap Moss & The Street Profits Vs. Austin Theory & Alpha Academy

Result: Montez Ford put Chad Gable away with a Frog Splash for the victory (6:29).

Rating: This was a totally solid kickoff match sprint - it didn't do anything remarkable but kept up a fast pace throughout while letting everyone get their moment in the spotlight.

The Street Profits unsurprisingly stole the show - Ford in particular, with that incredible Blockbuster to the outside - yet Madcap Moss also impressed with his relentless energy following a hot tag.

It wasn't particularly memorable overall but was certainly a fun sit while you were watching it, which is really all anybody needed this to be, right? 6/10
