WWE Clash Of Champions 2016: 10 Shocks That Could Happen
Triple H could poke his nose into Universal Title business again at Clash Of Champions...
Heading into Clash Of Champions, WWE haven't exactly shouted from the rooftops about the general concept of the Raw-only pay-per-view. In a similar mould to the previous Night Of Champions events, only with a definite nod towards WCW's old Clash Of The Champions show, every title on the red brand will up for grabs this Sunday.
Those belts, perhaps in order of importance, are the WWE Cruiserweight, Tag-Team, United States, Women's and the brand new Universal Title. Right away, five matches will be swallowed up by championship focus, so it's vital that each one is given time to breathe and establish itself as meaningful.
Along the way, we can all expect a shock or two to come out of left field. This could take the form of title changes. WWE normally enjoy writing at least one for pay-per-views, and this is after all Raw's 'first' stab at such a platform in the modern era.
Surprises may also come with unforeseen wins in some of the non-title matches, or even completely unadvertised returns in the main event of the show.
That in mind, here are ten realistic shocks that just might happen come Clash Of Champions...
10. Alicia Fox Somehow Overcomes Nia Jax
You could bet your house on a Nia Jax victory at Clash Of Champions. Jax is a new face on the WWE women's scene, tearing through numerous jobbers on Monday Night Raw and is surely a dead cert to someday hold the brand's Women's Title. Still, stranger things have happened than an Alicia Fox win.
Whilst there's definite value in having Nia rip Fox to shreds on the Kickoff show, WWE may want to set the tone for an evening of shocks by having the former NXT star come up just short before Clash Of Champions even properly gets underway. Nobody would see such a result coming.
Soaking up another brutal beating from the larger female, Alicia could be booked to somehow leave with her hand raised. If this is handled properly, for example having Fox win by disqualification before then being unable to leave without medical help, Nia might not lose too much face.
As easy as it is to see her winning, what if Jax suffers her first defeat during that debut pay-per-view appearance? Instantly, she becomes less wrecking-machine and more human, although such a booking strategy comes with risk.
