As confirmed on last night's Raw, Randy Orton will challenge WWE Champion Drew McIntyre at the upcoming Clash of Champions pay-per-view on 27 September.

This likely main event came about through a mini-tournament to crown McIntyre's next contender. 'The Legend Killer' beat Kevin Owens following an Aleister Black ambush to punch his ticket for the finals, meeting Seth Rollins (d. Dominik Mysterio) and Keith Lee (d. Dolph Ziggler). Lee appeared to have the match won, nailing Rollins with a Spirit Bomb, though Orton took an opportunistic victory, hitting Keith with an RKO before taking his pin on 'The Monday Night Messiah.'

Orton fell to McIntyre at SummerSlam, losing via roll-up. He responded to this by brutally attacking the Scot on last week's episode of Raw, putting him out of action with a kayfabe "hairline jaw fracture," resulting on the champ missing last night's show. He'll likely be brought back to television before Clash.

McIntyre vs. Orton is the only match announced for Clash of Champions at the time of writing. The pay-per-view sees the promotion going back to a more traditional pay-per-view schedule, having recently presented SummerSlam and Payback on consecutive weeks.
