WWE Confirms WrestleMania 34 To Be Held In New Orleans
WWE's signature event is heading back to the Superdome.
It's official: WrestleMania 34 will broadcast live from the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 8, 2018.
Rumours of WrestleMania's return to New Orleans have been swirling for a while, but they started gaining real steam last week. Yesterday saw the city's Times Picayune break the news, WWE confirm it an official announcement issued just a few hours before last night's Raw, and they're expected to follow up with a scheduled press conference in New Orleans this morning.
2014's WrestleMania XXX was the last time WWE held their showcase event in New Orleans. Widely regarded as one of the best Manias in recent memory, it turned into the Daniel Bryan show when he not only defeated Triple H in the night's opening match, but captured the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event.
Bryan's title victory was one of the most euphoric in WWE history, but it wasn't the night's only talking point. WrestleMania XXX also famously played host to The Undertaker's Streak-snapping loss to Brock Lesnar, and John Cena's much-maligned win over Bray Wyatt. Who knows what the wrestling landscape will look like when Mania 34 rolls around, but if next year's show as anywhere near as eventful as 2014's, fans are in for a wild evening.
