WWE Could Sue AEW Over Bash At The Beach

AEW hosted a sun-kissed sandy-shoed special episode of Dynamite last night, presenting the WCW-tribute 'Bash at the Beach' from Coral Gable's Watsco Center. After the neon-tinted show went off the air, The Elite cut a promo to the live audience - during which they suggested WWE could sue them for using their trademark.

More than likely, this was a joke by Cody and co.; Dusty Rhodes' son has experienced repeated legal trouble from his former employers, particular with regards to his ring name. It was also reported last year that WWE prevented AEW from promoting a similar Bash at the Beach event, owing to the similarities not to WCW's old trademark, but their truncated version of The Great American Bash, known simply as 'The Bash'.

WWE haven't officially filed a complaint against AEW as of the time of writing, and presumably the company had known about the special for some weeks now. However, Cody did joke on Twitter - in a since deleted post - that he'd have to buy a new suit, because he'd soon be spending a day in court. Watch this space.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
