WWE's first ever World Cup ('to determine the best in the world...') will provide the bulk of the controversial Crown Jewel pay-per-view's content this Friday (2 November), as eight Raw and SmackDown stars compete across seven total matches.

Last night's Raw brought several new developments. As expected, Bobby Lashley was substituted in as John Cena's replacement, with Baron Corbin noting that the 16-time World Champion didn't even qualify in the first place, but the bracket announcement is what's most notable.

As can be seen above, the red side will see Lashley face Seth Rollins and Dolph Ziggler wrestle Kurt Angle, while Jeff Hardy vs. The Miz and Rey Mysterio represent SmackDown.

The single elimination format will therefore see one Raw wrestler clash with an SD counterpart in the final, and the bracket makes a number of interesting bouts possible, with Rollins vs. Mysterio the most enticing from a workrate standpoint. In that case, we should expect WWE to go with something involving Lashley, or given the overly-nostalgic feel of these Saudia Arabian shows, Angle.

Nonetheless, this 'World Cup' (comprised entirely of American wrestlers) will consume much of the airtime, so let's hope for some fun action.
