This WWE personality needs to "step up" if they want to keep their spot...

WWE reportedly wants SmackDown announcer Kevin Patrick to step his game up in the blue brand's commentary booth if he is to keep his spot.

PWInsider Elite reports that Patrick, who occupies the play-by-play role on SmackDown, is being monitored to gauge how he performs on the Friday night show without lead commentator Michael Cole's assistance.

There is a feeling within WWE that Patrick "really needs to step it up" as an announcer over the next few months. This may determine whether or not he keeps the announcing spot.

Patrick sits alongside colour commentator Corey Graves on SmackDown, with Cole now working with Wade Barrett on Raw. WWE formally made the move to two-man booths on both major shows on 1 January, pulling Cole from SmackDown, with Patrick seemingly charged with an increase in responsibilities.

Formerly of CNN, Patrick has been with WWE since 2021, when he was brought in to occupy a general broadcasting role encompassing backstage interviews, panel show hosting, and more. He first moved into the commentary booth in October 2022, doing so on Raw, and was moved over to SmackDown last year.
