Recently released ex-WWE star Mike Bennett (Kanellis) told WrestleZone that the company didn't know his wife Maria was pregnant before pitching last summer's controversial storyline.

Paul Heyman had called the couple to ask if they'd be interested in working a tag-team match with Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins on Raw, and said that he wanted Maria to do most of the heavy lifting; Heyman's thinking was that she could berate Mike for letting Becky beat her without running in.

That's when Maria said, "Paul, I'm pregnant".

Instead of taking her out of the match completely, Heyman reworked it so that Mike would do the wrestling and Maria would rag on him for failing to beat Rollins. That meant they'd be able to work their featured angle after all.

Mike said he was fine with it so long as WWE promised the storyline would have a good payoff. They said it would (it didn't), and that's why the Kanellis couple were so motivated to make it work. Both were left disappointed when the angle fizzled out.

Things probably wouldn't have been any different even without Maria's pregnancy, but it's interesting to know that WWE learned about that via Heyman's pitch.
