"At Survivor Series, you will bear witness to the Elimination Chamber!"- The words of Eric Bischoff, long seen as the creator of the Elimination Chamber Match- he isn't, by the way- on October 21st 2002. The scope of the Attitude Era in WWE is remembered and remarked upon, routinely regarded and revered for some of the most famous and infamous match creations in WWE history. Hell in a Cell, Last Man Standing, First Blood (adopted from ECW) and Tables, Ladders & Chairs amongst others. However, perhaps WWE's greatest match creation of recent times came shortly thereafter- when the blazing conflagration of Stone Cold & The Rock had quelled into dying embers. It is something WWE has lacked, in recent years, a fresh, powerful new match type to get the fans' juices flowing. In fact, one could argue that the success of the Elimination Chamber has left a curse upon WWE, as every new creation they've attempted since then has fallen squarely between dismal or insipidly uninteresting. The success of the Elimination Chamber in its early years led to a period where Chamber matches were thrown together seemingly at random, simply because the Chamber itself acted as a draw for a while and one could hope for at least a decent match guaranteed when the "two miles of chain" engulfed itself around the squared circle. In 2008, WWE began the process of putting on Elimination Chamber Matches annually in February, first at No Way Out and then under its own name from 2010 to present. There have been some outstanding Elimination Chamber Matches in WWE history. There have been some classic regular matches at the Elimination Chamber/No Way Out PPV's since 2008.
