WWE Fastlane 2016: 10 Awesome Moments

9. Kalisto Holds On To WWE United States Title

It would have been a pretty ill-advised mistake to take the WWE United States Title away from Kalisto at this point. Had officials chosen to do so at Fastlane, there's a chance the masked man could have been killed stone dead as a character. Upward mobility would be limited had Alberto Del Rio beaten him on the pay-per-view and regained the belt. Whilst the '2 Out Of 3 Falls' stipulation did feel more than a little bit tacked on, Del Rio and Kalisto worked well with the time they were given. On the Kickoff show, it was hard for them to really get a good sweat on due to the limited time period. Thankfully, the pair concocted a story they could tell easily during the match. Del Rio's willingness to get himself disqualified for the first fall felt calculated, but it would end up costing him. Kalisto deserved the win here, and it was vital for WWE to back him. That's awesome news that they have, because it bodes well heading in to WrestleMania that he will play a featured role. Well, unless he's dumped on the pre-show again.
