Samoa Joe began appearing on Raw in January of 2017 after spending one and a half years in NXT. On his first night, The Destroyer assaulted Seth Rollins and re-injured The Kingslayer’s knee while taking him down to apply the Coquina Clutch.
After ending his rivalry with Rollins, Joe turned his eye towards Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship. During one of his confrontations with Paul Heyman, The Samoan Submission Specialist choked out Lesnar’s advocate with a Coquina Clutch to send a message to The Beast.
Joe continued hunting for his first main roster title after moving to SmackDown in 2018. Despite battling AJ Styles for the WWE Championship across four consecutive pay-per-views, he was unable to snatch the gold away from The Phenomenal One. One the most brutal spots during their matches featured Joe slamming Styles onto the chair with an STO.
In 2019, Joe finally captured his maiden main roster title, taking the US Championship during R-Truth’s open challenge. At Fastlane, he knocked out Rey Mysterio, Andrade, and R-Truth at the same time with a Suicide Dive on his way to retaining the title…
